Country Description

Agriculture is the leading sector of the economy. Rubber has become by far the country’s most valuable commercial crop accounting for the majority of Liberian export earnings, followed by gold, diamonds, coffee, and cocoa. It is richly endowed with water, mineral resources, forests, and a climate favorable to agriculture. Its principal exports are iron ore, rubber, diamonds, and gold. Palm oil and cocoa are emerging as new export products.
