Country Description

Ethiopia is Africa's second most populous country, has one of the largest livestock herds in Africa and a strong hydraulic energy potential. It is among the worlds leading producers and/or exporters of coffee, oilseeds, dry beans, pulses flour and potatoes. The agricultural sector contributes to around a third of Ethiopia’s GDP, but is considered the foundation of the country's economy as it employs more than two thirds of the workforce. The main agricultural products are cereals, coffee, oilseed, cotton, sugarcane, vegetables, khat, cut flowers, hides, cattle, sheep, goats and seafood.
